Pakistan’s security forces have killed three terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij during an intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Security sources said the operation took place on Monday.

The operation is part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts in the province under the government’s Azm-e-Istehkam vision.

Security Forces Conduct Intelligence-Based Operation

According to security sources, the operation began after intelligence indicated the presence of terrorists in the area. As a result, three members of Fitna al-Khawarij were killed.

However, authorities have not yet provided further details. The identities of those killed, the exact location of the operation and any casualties among security personnel remain undisclosed.

Counterterrorism Operations Continue in KP

The latest action came a day after security forces reported killing eight terrorists in another intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan.

According to security sources cited by state media, three key commanders were among those killed in that operation. Weapons, ammunition and foreign currency were also recovered.

Meanwhile, the back-to-back operations show the continued focus on intelligence-led action against militant networks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Authorities say these operations aim to disrupt terrorist activity and prevent attacks.

The state uses the term Fitna al-Khawarij for members of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). In addition, Operation Azm-e-Istehkam was launched in 2024 as part of Pakistan’s wider strategy to counter terrorism and extremism.

PM Shehbaz Praises Security Forces

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces following the latest Dera Ismail Khan operation.

He said successful actions against Fitna al-Khawarij were dealing a serious blow to terrorist networks. He also reaffirmed that counterterrorism operations would continue until terrorism is eliminated.

The prime minister stressed the government’s resolve to eradicate terrorism from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and across Pakistan. The latest operation is part of the ongoing security campaign in KP.

Officials have not released further operational details at this stage. Security operations in the area are expected to continue as authorities work to identify and disrupt remaining terrorist elements.
