Pakistan captain Sahibzada Farhan has broken India’s Abhishek Sharma’s record for the most runs in a three-match bilateral men’s T20I series between two Full Member nations. Farhan finished Pakistan’s series against Sri Lanka with 238 runs, surpassing Abhishek’s previous record of 229 runs.
The milestone came during the third and final T20I at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on October 13, 2026. Farhan scored 76 off 47 balls, recording his third consecutive half-century in the series. Pakistan lost the match by eight wickets, but had already secured the series with victories in the first two games.
Farhan Scores Three Consecutive Half-Centuries
Farhan began the series with an impressive 89 off 53 deliveries in the opening match on October 9. His innings helped Pakistan chase down Sri Lanka’s target of 183 runs and win by four wickets.
In the second T20I on October 11, the Pakistan captain scored 73 off 44 balls. His contribution helped the hosts post 215 for three before Pakistan bowled Sri Lanka out for 133 for seven, securing an 82-run victory and an unassailable 2-0 series lead.
Farhan continued his strong form in the final match, adding 76 runs from 47 balls. His three innings produced a total of 238 runs at an average of 79.33 and a strike rate of 165.27.
He was named Player of the Series for his consistent performances with the bat.
Farhan Moves Ahead of Abhishek Sharma
India’s Abhishek Sharma previously held the record after scoring 229 runs against Afghanistan in a three-match T20I series earlier in 2026. Farhan’s 238-run total moved him nine runs clear of that mark.
New Zealand’s Colin Munro is third on the list with 223 runs against the West Indies, followed by Australia’s David Warner, who scored 217 runs against Sri Lanka in 2019. Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai completes the top five with 204 runs against Ireland in 2019.
The record is specifically for bilateral three-match T20I series between Full Member nations, rather than every possible three-match T20 competition.
Pakistan had already won the series before the final match, but Sri Lanka finished on a positive note. Chasing Pakistan’s 168 for eight, Sri Lanka reached the target with eight wickets remaining and 17 balls to spare. Kusal Mendis led the chase with 87 off 47 deliveries.
Farhan’s record-breaking series nevertheless gave Pakistan a major individual highlight and marked an impressive start to his home assignment as the team’s T20I captain.
