Lahore recorded 498 rape cases and 36 gang-rape cases during the first eight months of 2026, according to police data reported on October 3. The figures show an increase compared with the same period last year, when 413 rape and 26 gang-rape cases were registered.
The latest figures represent cases registered from January through August. Police records show that rape cases increased by about 20%, while gang-rape cases rose by around 38% compared with the corresponding period of 2025.
Division-Wise Rape Cases in Lahore
Saddar Division recorded the highest number of rape cases during the eight-month period, with 132 cases. Model Town followed with 98 cases, while Cantonment recorded 92.
Iqbal Town reported 80 cases, City Division recorded 56, and Civil Lines registered 40 cases. Together, these figures make up the 498 rape cases reported across Lahore.
The increase was not uniform across every division. Model Town recorded 98 rape cases in both the current and previous comparison periods. Meanwhile, Saddar increased from 98 to 132 cases, City from 36 to 56, and Iqbal Town from 46 to 80.
36 Gang-Rape Cases Reported
Police data show 36 gang-rape cases across Lahore during the first eight months of 2026, compared with 26 cases during the same period last year.
Model Town recorded the highest number, with 10 cases. Cantonment followed with nine, while Saddar and Iqbal Town each recorded six. Civil Lines reported three cases and City Division recorded two.
The figures are based on police-registered cases and should not be treated as a complete measure of sexual violence. Previous reporting on Lahore’s crime data has noted that registered cases can be affected by reporting barriers, including social stigma and pressure on victims and families.
Lahore Records 1,108 Sexual-Offence Cases
Separate police figures show that Lahore recorded 574 cases classified as sodomy during the same eight-month period. Combined with the 498 rape and 36 gang-rape cases, the total reaches 1,108 registered sexual-offence cases.
The latest data provide figures for registered cases but do not establish how many resulted in convictions. The available reports also do not provide a complete division-wise breakdown of arrests and court outcomes for all 2026 cases.
The latest police figures therefore show a rise in reported rape and gang-rape cases in Lahore compared with the same period last year, while further investigation and judicial proceedings will determine the outcomes of individual cases.
