A consumer court in Peshawar has ordered Easypaisa Digital Bank to pay Rs90,000 after a customer complained about an unauthorized transfer of Rs40,000 from his account. Consumer Court Judge Nasrullah Khan Gandapur issued the ruling on October 3, 2026.

Under the decision, Easypaisa must return the disputed Rs40,000 to the customer. It must also pay Rs25,000 in compensation and deposit another Rs25,000 fine with the government. As a result, the total amount reaches Rs90,000.

How the Unauthorized Transactions Happened

According to the complaint, Fahad-ur-Rehman discovered the missing money on February 14, 2026. He had visited a local service provider to withdraw Rs50,000 for household needs. However, he found that only about Rs11,000 remained in his Easypaisa account.

The transaction history showed that Rs40,000 had been transferred through three transactions on February 12. These included Rs10,000 sent to Imran Traders, Rs22,000 to Swift Collect System, and Rs8,000 to Easy Online Service.

The complainant told the court that he did not make the transactions. He also said he had not authorized anyone else to make them. In addition, he stated that he did not receive transaction notifications.

He then contacted the Easypaisa helpline but said he did not receive satisfactory assistance.

Court’s Decision Against Easypaisa

The court held that financial and electronic payment service providers have a duty to protect their customers. This includes taking reasonable security measures and exercising proper care when handling customer accounts.

Meanwhile, the proceedings were conducted ex parte because no Easypaisa representative appeared in court despite receiving notice.

The complainant submitted several documents during the proceedings. These included transaction records, receipts, emails and copies of legal notices, according to reports on the judgment.

The court therefore ordered Easypaisa to refund the Rs40,000. It also ordered the company to pay Rs25,000 in compensation to the complainant and another Rs25,000 to the government as a fine.

What the Ruling Means for Easypaisa Customers

The case highlights the importance of account security as digital payment services become more common in Pakistan. It also shows that customers can seek legal remedies when they believe unauthorized transactions have taken place.

According to the latest available reports, the Peshawar consumer court’s October 3, 2026 ruling remains the latest development in the case. No separate response from Easypaisa was reported in the latest coverage reviewed.
