Karachi CTD arrests BLA and TTP militants during joint intelligence-based operations in Karachi. The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Sindh arrested five suspects allegedly linked to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), according to reports published in June 2026.
Officials said the arrests followed raids at two locations in the city. Three suspects were allegedly linked to the BLA, while two others were associated with the TTP. The operations also led to the recovery of pistols, ammunition and mobile phones.
Karachi CTD Arrests Three Suspected BLA Members
According to the CTD, the suspects included Imran Khan, alias Shaukat, Zaheer Ahmed and Muhammad Riaz. Investigators alleged that the three men were connected to the BLA.
The department claimed that the suspects had collected information about sensitive installations in Karachi. Officials also alleged that they were acting on the instructions of a militant commander identified as Abdul Rehman.
The CTD further linked Zaheer Ahmed to a suspected militant training camp in 2024. Investigators also alleged that he was involved in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Sajidi Bazaar, Balochistan, which reportedly injured Frontier Corps personnel.
These claims were attributed to the authorities and have not been presented as proven findings by a court.
Two Suspected TTP Members Also Arrested
The CTD identified Hujatullah and Habibullah as the other two suspects. According to officials, both men were associated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
Investigators alleged that the two suspects received militant training in Afghanistan in 2024 before travelling to Karachi.
The department further claimed that they had conducted reconnaissance of law enforcement offices in the city. Officials said the suspects were allegedly waiting for instructions from their handlers.
The investigation aims to establish the suspects’ alleged activities and determine whether they had links to other individuals or networks.
Weapons and Mobile Phones Recovered
During the joint operations, officials recovered five .30-bore pistols, ammunition and two mobile phones.
Investigators may examine the recovered phones and other evidence to establish possible connections between the suspects and their alleged handlers. The available reports did not confirm whether the recovered weapons had been used in previous attacks.
The arrests are part of counterterrorism efforts by the Sindh CTD and intelligence agencies to identify suspected militant networks and prevent potential attacks in Karachi.
Further details about the investigation, including any subsequent court proceedings, were not established in the available reporting as of October 12, 2026.
