The BISP Digital Payment Awareness Campaign aims to help women beneficiaries understand the programme’s digital payment system. The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) will explain how women can access their financial assistance, withdraw cash from authorised retailers and protect their mobile wallets from fraud.
According to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), the training campaign began in Lahore on October 9, 2026. Additional Secretary BISP Dr Asmat Nawaz addressed the opening session. He stressed the need for staff training and clear guidance for women receiving financial assistance.
How the New BISP Payment System Works
Under the updated system, women can withdraw their payments from authorised retailers of partner banks across Pakistan. They must first receive a payment confirmation SMS. This arrangement allows beneficiaries to access their funds in different cities. It also aims to reduce their reliance on designated payment centres.
Meanwhile, the awareness campaign will train BISP staff to explain digital wallets and payment withdrawal procedures. Staff will also guide women on important security measures. Beneficiaries should protect their mobile phones and SIM cards. They should also keep transaction SMS messages secure and check that they receive their full payments.
BISP Warns Against Unauthorised Deductions
Dr Asmat Nawaz said BISP would not tolerate unauthorised deductions from beneficiaries’ payments. Women who face payment problems can contact the BISP helpline at 0800-26477. Alternatively, they can visit their local tehsil office for assistance.
In addition, the campaign aims to raise awareness about fraud and the safe use of mobile wallets. Beneficiaries should follow official BISP instructions and avoid sharing sensitive information with unauthorised individuals. These steps can help them protect their payments and personal details.
The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety also reviewed BISP awareness campaigns and digital wallet initiatives in September 2026. The review highlighted the need to inform beneficiaries about payment procedures. It also stressed the responsibilities of partner-bank agents.
The campaign supports BISP’s shift towards digital payments. However, its success will depend on clear guidance and safe access to funds. Women across Pakistan need to understand the new system and know how to report payment problems. This will help them receive their financial assistance without unauthorised deductions.
