The Section 144 imposed across Balochistan order will remain in force for 30 days as provincial authorities introduce restrictions at public places. The Balochistan government said the measures aim to maintain law and order and protect citizens.

According to Home Department adviser Babar Yousafzai, the restrictions took effect from September 23, 2026. The order applies across the province and directs law enforcement agencies and district administrations to ensure compliance.

What does Section 144 ban?

The order prohibits gatherings of five or more people at public places. It also bans sit-ins, rallies, protests and similar public activities across Balochistan.

Authorities have also prohibited the public display and exhibition of weapons. The restriction covers public places across the province.

Another part of the order concerns face coverings. People cannot cover their faces, wear veils or use other materials in public places if these prevent authorities from identifying them.

The government has instructed law enforcement agencies and district administrations to enforce the restrictions. Officials have also warned that authorities will take legal action against people who violate the order.

Why has Balochistan imposed the restrictions?

Provincial authorities cited security concerns and the need to maintain law and order as the basis for the decision. The order comes as security agencies remain on alert across the province.

The restrictions also come amid heightened security activity in Balochistan. Recent reports have highlighted continuing security operations and concerns over militant activity in the province.

The latest order does not provide a province-wide ban on ordinary movement or daily commercial activity. Instead, it specifically targets public gatherings, demonstrations, weapon displays and activities that can prevent identification in public places.

How long will the restrictions remain?

The Section 144 imposed across Balochistan will remain effective for 30 days from September 23, according to the Home Department adviser. The provincial administration has instructed relevant authorities to implement the order throughout the period.

Residents and organisations planning public gatherings during this period will need to follow the restrictions and any additional instructions issued by local administrations.
