A seven-year-old girl has died in Hyderabad after suffering severe injuries in a stray dog attack. The incident took place on September 5 in the Kohsar area near Lal Quarters, close to the airport.
The girl was returning home with her father after attending a Quran lesson when the dog attacked her. She was later identified as Abeeha, daughter of Nauman Qureshi.
Seven-Year-Old Girl Dies After Dog Attack
The stray dog reportedly attacked Abeeha and caused serious injuries to her head. She was first taken to Kohsar Hospital for treatment. Doctors later shifted her to Civil Hospital, where she underwent surgery.
According to Abdul Qayyum Rajput, a Jamaat-e-Islami Kohsar Zone office-bearer, the injuries were severe. He said a dog tooth was reportedly lodged in the girl’s skull.
Abeeha received vaccination and continued taking medication after her treatment. She later developed a fever and died at home while still receiving treatment.
The available reports do not confirm whether rabies caused her death.
The incident has renewed concerns about stray dog attacks in Hyderabad. It has also drawn attention because another child reportedly died after a dog-bite incident earlier this year.
Another Child Died After a Dog Attack
The Express Tribune reported that six-year-old Muhammad Rayan was attacked by a stray dog in Latifabad on July 5. The boy suffered a bite to the head and received medical treatment and vaccination.
According to the report, Rayan later developed symptoms linked to rabies. He died on July 31.
The two deaths have increased concerns among Hyderabad residents about stray dogs in residential areas. Residents say packs of dogs continue to roam through streets and may pose a risk to children and pedestrians.
So far, the latest available reports have not included a verified statement from Hyderabad’s municipal authorities about new measures following Abeeha’s death.
The incident has again highlighted concerns about stray dog control, quick medical treatment after dog bites, and public safety in affected areas.
