The Anmol Pinky acquittal appeals faced another delay on Thursday as the Sindh High Court (SHC) adjourned the hearing of three narcotics cases registered at Karachi’s Gizri Police Station. The prosecution also requested more time to submit the relevant police files.

The SHC rejected a request for an urgent hearing and allowed prosecutors additional time to provide the case records. The court did not announce a new date for the next hearing.

Prosecution Challenges Anmol Pinky’s Acquittal

The Prosecutor General Sindh filed the appeals after a Karachi sessions court acquitted Anmol alias Pinky in three narcotics cases. The cases date back to 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Prosecutors argued that the acquittal of other accused persons did not automatically clear Anmol of the allegations against her. They also raised concerns about delays in the proceedings and asked the high court to set aside the trial court’s decision.

The Anmol Pinky acquittal now remains under challenge before the SHC. The prosecution must submit the requested police files before the court can continue examining the appeals.

Why Was Anmol Pinky Acquitted?

A Karachi sessions court acquitted Anmol in the three cases in August. Her defence had argued that the prosecution relied heavily on statements linked to co-accused persons.

Two co-accused, Ali and Fahmida, had already secured acquittals in 2024. Anmol’s defence used those developments while seeking relief from the trial court.

The court accepted her pleas under Section 265-K of the Code of Criminal Procedure and acquitted her in the three cases.

What Happens Next?

The latest SHC proceedings have not overturned the earlier acquittal. The prosecution now needs to submit the police files requested by the court.

The high court has not announced a fresh hearing date. Further proceedings will determine whether the prosecution’s appeals move forward.
