MG JW Automobile Pakistan is set to export locally assembled vehicles to Bangladesh this month. The company plans to ship 100 vehicles on a trial basis in September 2026. Larger-scale commercial exports are expected to begin in 2027.
The development marks an important step in Pakistan’s automotive export ambitions. It could also help strengthen the country’s local manufacturing industry and create new opportunities in international markets.
Pakistan to Export Locally Assembled MG Cars
MG JW Automobile Pakistan plans to export two MG models produced locally in partnership with China’s SAIC Motor. The company’s CEO, Jianqiang Shao, confirmed the development.
These models were previously exported to Bangladesh from China. Following discussions with SAIC Motor’s headquarters, MG Pakistan secured support to shift the export operation from China to Pakistan.
The first shipment will include 100 vehicles. This trial export will help both companies assess market demand and establish a reliable supply process.
MG Pakistan Signs Agreement with Bangladesh’s RANCON Group
The planned exports follow a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between MG JW Automobile Pakistan and Bangladesh’s RANCON Group in July 2026.
According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Industries and Production, the agreement targets 5,800 vehicle exports over the next four years. The partnership could help Pakistan expand its automotive exports and strengthen its position in the regional market.
CKD Model to Support Vehicle Exports
MG Pakistan plans to use the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) model for its exports to Bangladesh. Under this arrangement, vehicles are shipped in parts and assembled in the destination country.
According to Jianqiang Shao, the CKD model could help the Bangladeshi distributor reduce import duties. It may also support a more sustainable export business for Pakistan.
The arrangement could benefit both countries. Bangladesh would gain access to locally assembled MG vehicles, while Pakistan could increase its manufacturing and export activity.
Pakistani Engineering Team to Support Bangladesh Assembly
MG JW Automobile Pakistan also plans to provide technical assistance to its Bangladeshi partner. A Pakistani engineering team is expected to travel to Bangladesh to support vehicle assembly and quality control.
The team will assist with general assembly procedures and help ensure that vehicles meet the required quality standards. This technical cooperation could play an important role in establishing a smooth export and assembly process.
What MG Car Exports Mean for Pakistan’s Auto Industry
The agreement could help Pakistan expand its automotive exports beyond the domestic market. It also reflects growing interest in Pakistan’s manufacturing capabilities.
The Ministry of Industries and Production said the partnership supports the government’s export-oriented industrial strategy. The agreement could contribute to foreign exchange earnings and encourage further investment in local manufacturing.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan witnessed the MoU signing. He highlighted the importance of vehicle exports, localization and investment in Pakistan’s automotive sector.
The government is also working to finalize a new Auto Policy. The policy is expected to focus on increasing vehicle exports, strengthening local production and attracting investment.
Benefits for Bangladesh’s Automotive Market
The partnership could expand the range of vehicles available to Bangladeshi consumers. It may also introduce greater competition in the country’s automotive market.
RANCON Group Executive Director Muhammad Mostafizur Rashid Bhuiyan said the agreement would provide Bangladeshi consumers with access to quality vehicles manufactured in Pakistan.
The CKD model could also help the distributor manage import costs. However, the success of the partnership will depend on production capacity, export expenses and the efficiency of the assembly process.
MG Pakistan Exports to Begin in September 2026
The initial shipment of 100 vehicles will serve as a trial export. Regular commercial exports are planned for 2027.
The agreement targets 5,800 vehicle exports over the next four years. Achieving this target will depend on market demand, production capacity and the ability of both companies to establish a reliable supply chain.
The development is a positive step for Pakistan’s automotive industry. If the export plan succeeds, it could encourage further international partnerships and support the country’s long-term vehicle export ambitions.
