What Happened at Riyadh Airport?

According to Saudi authorities, an unidentified projectile struck Terminal 4 at King Khalid International Airport on Sunday afternoon. The impact caused a fire. The incident followed another deadly attack on the airport a day earlier.

The Saudi-led coalition fighting Yemen’s Houthi movement reported the strike. Later, GACA confirmed that a Pakistani resident had died and 11 others had suffered injuries. Officials said rescue teams took the injured to hospitals for treatment.

Earlier Attack Left 12 Dead and 309 Injured

The latest strike followed an earlier attack on King Khalid International Airport. According to Saudi civil aviation authorities, that attack killed 12 people and injured 309 others. The victims included Saudi citizens and foreign nationals.

The Saudi-led coalition blamed Yemen’s Houthi movement for the earlier attack. The group has claimed responsibility for attacks during the escalating regional conflict. Meanwhile, the two incidents have raised concerns about the safety of civilian airports in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi authorities have also reported attacks targeting King Fahd International Airport in Dammam. Officials are continuing to assess the damage and review security measures at the affected facilities.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, Sharif said attacks on civilians and critical infrastructure violate international law. He warned that such actions threaten regional peace and stability. In addition, he called on the Houthi movement to stop the attacks and reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and security.

The death of a Pakistani resident has raised concern in Pakistan. The country has close ties with Saudi Arabia and a large community of citizens living and working in the kingdom.
