The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has postponed its planned Islamabad long march from September 27 to October 5, according to party sources. The PTI political committee made the decision during a meeting in Peshawar on Friday.

The party had planned the march to demand the release of PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan. Khan remains in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. PTI had also started preparations to mobilise supporters from different parts of the country.

PTI Changes the March Date

The PTI political committee reviewed the party’s preparations before changing the protest date. Members also discussed the current political and security situation.

The new date comes after increased security measures in Islamabad and several areas of Punjab. The federal government has deployed Rangers in Islamabad and selected Punjab districts. The current deployment order runs until October 5.

Islamabad authorities have also imposed Section 144. The restrictions prohibit public gatherings, rallies and processions in the capital.

Why Did PTI Postpone the March?

PTI leaders had earlier maintained that the party would hold the march on September 27. However, party leaders later discussed moving the event to another date.

The party reportedly considered several dates in early October. Leaders also discussed political contacts with other opposition groups as they prepared for the protest.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has also called for political dialogue. He has urged the government to resolve political issues through talks instead of confrontation.

The postponement gives PTI more time to organise its workers and supporters. It also allows the party to continue political consultations before the new protest date.

What Happens Next?

PTI now plans to hold the Islamabad long march on October 5, according to the latest reports. The party is expected to share more details about the route, timing and mobilisation plans before the event.

Security arrangements will also remain important as October 5 approaches. The government and local authorities may announce further measures depending on the situation.

The political situation remains fluid, and PTI could provide additional details about the protest in the coming days.
